Abstract:

Disclosed is a process for production of CDP-choline comprising the steps of contacting a biocatalyst having an activity of producing CDP-choline from orotic acid or uracil and choline or phosphorylcholine with orotic acid or uracil and choline or phosphorylcholine in a medium to produce and accumulate CDP-choline in the medium, and collecting the CDP-choline from the medium. In the process, orotic acid or uracil is added to the medium in the form of an alkaline solution containing orotic acid or uracil.
