Title:
PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION OF HOLLOW-FIBER-LIKE ORGANIC NANOTUBE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2008/001599
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed is a hollow-fiber-like organic nanotube having properties not available in an inorganic nanotube, an inner diameter about 10-fold greater than that of cyclodextrin and a high axial ratio. Also disclosed is a process for synthesizing the organic nanotube in a simple manner. The process comprises the step of causing the self-assembly of a peptide lipid represented by the general formula (1) or (2) and composed of a conjugate of a long-chain hydrocarbon and a peptide chain, by dissolving the peptide lipid in an aqueous alkaline solution and then adding an acidic compound to the solution or by dissolving the peptide lipid in an aqueousacidic solution and then adding an alkaline compound to the solution, thereby forming a nanosized hollow-fiber-like structure. RCO(NH-CHR'-CO)mOH (1) H(NH-CHR'-CO)mNHR (2) wherein R represents a hydrocarbon group having 6 to 24 carbon atoms; R' represents an amino acid side chain; and m represents an integer ranging from 1 to 10.
