Abstract:
Provided are a novel process by which aryltriazolinones can be more easily prepared from more inexpensive raw materials at a low cost; and a novel process by which aryltriazolinones can be prepared simply and easily under safer and milder conditions at a low cost. Specifically, the invention provides a process for the preparation of aryltriazolinones (I) which comprises dehydrogenating an aryltriazolidinone (II) with an oxidizing agent; and a process for the preparation of aryltriazolinones (I), characterized by adding an alkali metal cyanate and an acid to an arylhydrazone (III) and further adding oxygen to the resulting mixture in the presence or absence of an oxidation catalyst. (I) (II) (III) [In the general formulae, X is halogeno or C¿1-6? lower alkyl; and n is an integer of 0 to 5, with the proviso that when n is 2 or above, X's may be the same or different from each other.]
