Abstract:
Provided is a product-sum calculation device which, when applied to a neural network, is able to suppress a reduction in performance of the neural network when an element used for a bias term malfunctions. The product-sum calculation device (1) comprises a product calculation unit (10) and a sum calculation unit (11). The product calculation unit (10) comprises a plurality of variable-input product calculation elements (10A1A, 10A1B), and a plurality of fixed-input product calculation elements (10A2A, 10A2B). The plurality of variable-input product calculation elements (10A1A, 10A1B) and the plurality of fixed-input product calculation elements (10A2A, 10A2B) are variable resistance elements. The product-sum calculation device (1) further comprises variable-input units (121A, 121B) for inputting a variable signal to the plurality of variable-input product calculation elements, and fixed-input units (122A, 122B) for inputting a predetermined signal, in synchronization with the variable signal, to the plurality of fixed-input product calculation elements (10A2A, 10A2B). The sum calculation unit (11) is equipped with an output detector (11A) for detecting the total value of the output from the plurality of variable-input product calculation elements (10A1A, 10A1B) and the output from the plurality of fixed-input product calculation elements (10A2A, 10A2B).
