Abstract:
The present invention relates to: [1] a method for producing an aqueous pigment dispersion which comprises step 1, in which a monomer (a) having an ionic group and a hydrophobic monomer (b) are polymerized using both a polymerization initiator (x) having an ionic group and a polymerization chain-transfer agent (y) having an ionic group to obtain polymer A having ionic groups, step 2, in which the obtained polymer (A) and a pigment are mixed with and dispersed in an aqueous medium to obtain an aqueous dispersion of the pigment, and step 3, in which the polymer A contained in the obtained aqueous dispersion of the pigment is crosslinked with a polyfunctional compound to obtain said aqueous pigment dispersion; and [2] a method for producing a water-based ink which comprises the steps 1 to 3 and step 4, in which the obtained aqueous pigment dispersion is mixed with an organic solvent to obtain the water-based ink. The obtained aqueous pigment dispersion and water-based ink have such excellent redispersibility and high flowability that the ink ejection nozzle can be inhibited from being clogged by pigment or polymer solidification therein.
