Abstract:
The present invention pertains to: a production method for a biomass hydrolysis catalyst having an aromatic hydrocarbon skeleton, a phenolic hydroxyl group and a carboxyl group, and also having a specific surface area of 1-3000 m2/g, said production method including a step for the air oxidation of a woody biomass powder; a production method for monosaccharides, including oligosaccharides, in which a biomass including cellulose and/or hemicellulose is hydrolyzed in the presence of the biomass hydrolysis catalyst produced by the production method for a biomass hydrolysis catalyst; and a hydrolysis catalyst regeneration method including a step for the air oxidation of solid residue separated from a sugar-containing solution after the hydrolysis reaction. The woody biomass powder is preferably a eucalyptus powder. The present invention makes it possible to inexpensively produce a biomass hydrolysis catalyst from a woody biomass powder, and to regenerate and use the catalyst after a hydrolysis reaction.
