Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a production method for carbon fiber precursor fibers that have superior quality and production properties, by using a spinning dope that has superior stringiness and extensibility. The present invention uses, as a spinning dope, an acrylonitrile polymer in which: the area ratio (B/A) of the peak area A in the range in which the polystyrene equivalent molecular weight as measured by a gel permeation chromatography (GPC) method is at least 3,000,000 but less than 5,000,000 and the peak area B in the range in which the polystyrene equivalent molecular weight is 5,000,000-15,000,000, inclusive, is 0.8 or greater; and the area ratio (D/C) of the peak area C in the range in which the polystyrene equivalent molecular weight as measured by the gel permeation chromatography (GPC) method is less than 3,000,000, and the peak area D in the range in which the polystyrene equivalent molecular weight is between 3,000,000 and 15,000,000, inclusive, is 0.025 or less.
