Abstract:
Disclosed is a production method for cationic hydroxypropyl cellulose, wherein a low crystallinity powdered cellulose is reacted with a cationizing agent represented by general formula (1) and/or (2) and a propylene oxide, in the presence of a catalyst and 10 to 60 mass% water relative to said low crystallinity powdered cellulose. (R1 to R3 each independently represents a C1-4 straight-chain or branched-chain hydrocarbon group, and X and Z represent the same or different halogen atoms.)
