Abstract:
Provided is a method for producing α-chloroethyl benzyl chloride at high yield. This production method involves using a flow system to photoreact α-chloroethyl toluene with chlorine to produce α-chloroethyl benzyl chloride. The gas-liquid interface between the α-chloroethyl toluene liquid phase and the chlorine gas phase is planar, and the α-chloroethyl toluene liquid phase is inclined relative to a horizontal plane and flows due to gravity. Also provided is a method for producing chloromethylstyrene from methylstyrene.
