Abstract:
This production method for a coil spring (20) comprises a shot peening step in which shot peening is performed on a coil spring (30), a compression step in which the coil spring (30) that underwent the shot peening step is compressed to a specified length, and a stress shot peening step in which stress shot peening is further performed on the coil spring (30) that underwent the compression step while said coil spring (30) is in a compressed state, wherein when L is the free length of the coil spring (30) after completion of the stress shot peening step, the free length of the coil spring (30) after completion of the stress shot peening step maintains a state equal to or less than L. Preferably, the shot peening step is performed at least twice while the shot peening conditions are changed. More preferably, the stress shot peening step is performed using cold-working.
