Abstract:
Disclosed is a method of descaling a steel material for removing scales generated during hot rolling of a steel material by jetting high-pressure water from a plurality of nozzles on to the surface of the steel material, characterized in that a pulsation having a frequency of 3.0-200 kHz is imparted to the high-pressure water by direct oscillation by means of a vibrator or oscillation by resonance thereof, and the distance from the nozzle to a steel piece is in the range of 50-700 mm. Consequently, hard-to-remove scales on a steel piece such as steel having high Si content are removed while temperature regulation of a heating furnace is eased without requiring high-pressure water having a very high delivery pressure, whereby a method for producing a hot rolled steel material having a sufficiently good quality is provided.
