Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method that is for producing long-chain fatty acids and that enable prevention of a coloring component from being contained and enable high yield recovery of long-chain fatty acids. Provided is a method that is for producing long-chain fatty acids and that comprises: (a) a step for decomposing triglycerides, in crude plant oil derived from waste products containing plant-derived oil, into fatty acids by using an enzyme; (b) a step for removing, through distillation, short-chain fatty acids in the crude plant oil after step (a); and (c) a step for recovering long-chain fatty acids in the crude plant oil after step (b) by short path distillation.
