Abstract:
Provided is a production method for wheel bearing devices, whereby occurrence of cracks during swage work on a face spline section can be prevented and durability improved. In the production method for wheel bearing devices: an inner ring (5) is fixed to a hub ring (1) by using a swaged section (13) having an end section of a small-diameter stepped section (1b) formed by plastic deformation; and a face spline (14) is formed in said end section. The reduction rate (Y = (A - D)/A) for a tooth bottom (14a) of the face spline (14) is set to no more than 0.60, the diameter expansion rate (Z = (E - B)/B) is set to no more than 0.22, and Y × Z is set to no more than 0.135, when the amount of protrusion from a large end surface (5b) of the inner ring (5) in a cylindrical end section (23) of the small-diameter stepped section (1b) prior to swaging of the swaged section (13) is A, the outer diameter of the end section (23) is B, the dimensions in the axial direction from the large end surface (5b) of the inner ring (5) in the tooth bottom (14a) of the face spline (14) after swaging is D, and the outer diameter of the outermost diameter section (13a) of the swaged section (13) is E.
