Abstract:
The present invention relates to a profiled element for mounting the jambs to carpentry frames, to a kit for mounting the jambs and to a method for mounting the jambs to the carpentry frames, for use in the construction field. The profiled element for mounting the jambs according to the invention is in the form of a rod with a cross-sectional profile comprising a first wing (1) having a length k sufficient to be able to come into contact with at least one protruding of the carpentry frame (9) which fixes the insulating and sealing material (12) between the carpentry frame (9) and the masonry (11) from the side of the carpentry frame (9) where the jamb (14) is mounted, a second wing (2) extending in a direction opposite to said first wing (1) having a length m sufficient to position and hold the jamb (14) to be mounted, and optionally, a third wing (3) positioned at the point of connection between the first wing (1) and the second wing (2) and which is extending perpendicular on one side only in respect to the surface determined by the two wings (1, 2) having a length p sufficient to fulfil a stopper function at the surface level of the carpentry frame (9).

Claims:
Claims

1. Profiled element for mounting the jambs characterized in that it is in the form of a rod with a cross-sectional profile comprising a first wing (1 ) having a length k sufficient to be able to come into contact with at least one protruding of the carpentry frame (9) which fixes the insulating and sealing material (12) between the carpentry frame (9) and the masonry (11 ), from the side of the carpentry frame (9) where the jamb is mounted, a second wing (2) extending in a direction opposite to the said first wing (1 ) having a length m sufficient to position and hold the jamb to be mounted, and optionally, a third wing (3), positioned at the point of connection between the first wing (1 ) and the second wing (2) and extending perpendicular on one side only in respect to the surface determined by the two wings (1 , 2), having a length p sufficient to fulfil a stopper function at the surface level of the carpentry frame.

2. Profiled element according to claim 1 characterized in that the second wing (2) is in extension of the first wing (1 ).

Profiled element according to claim 1 characterized in that the second wing (2) is offset from the direction of extension of the first wing (1 ), in a direction parallel to this direction of extension of the first wing (1 ), by a portion (4), perpendicular to the first wing (1 ), said portion (4) having a predetermined length n which ensures the space necessary for positioning the jamb (14) to be mounted between the second wing (2) and masonry (11 ).

4. Profiled element according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the second wing (2) is additionally provided, in its extension, with a mesh (5) of fiberglass.

Profiled element according to any one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the first wing (1 ) is provided on the contact side (A) with at least one protruding of the carpentry frame (9) which fixes the insulation and sealing material (12) between the carpentry frame (9) and masonry (11 ), from the side of the carpentry frame (9) where the jamb (14) is mounted, with a first fastening means (6) which can be a self-adhesive tape or a gripping clamp which can be hooked onto the protruding of the carpentry frame.

Profiled element according to any one of claims 1 to 5 characterized in that it is embeddable at the end of the jamb (14) which comes into contact with the carpentry frame (9), in any position chosen between the end of the jamb and a position embedded in the body of the jamb, so that only wing (1 ) remains extended outside the end of the jamb.

7. Profiled element according to any one of claims 1 to 5 characterized in that side (B) contacting the carpentry frame of portion (4) is provided with a second fastening means (7) on the carpentry frame which can be a self-adhesive tape.

8. Profiled element according to any one of claims 1 to 7 characterized in that it is made of any suitable material such as PVC, aluminium, steel.

9. Profiled element according to any one of claims 1 to 8 characterized in that it is used for mounting the jambs at carpentry frames in both straight line and curved line.

10. Jamb for carpentry frames characterized in that it is provided with a profiled element for mounting the jambs according to any one of claims 1 to 9.

11. Kit for mounting the jambs characterized in that it comprises a profiled element for mounting the jambs according to any one of claims 4 to 9 and screws (8) for fixing and adjusting the position of the jamb (14).

12. Method for mounting the jambs to carpentry frames comprising the steps of

- preparation of the surface on which the jamb is to be applied for eliminating the unevenness from the construction and unevenness of the insulation material between the masonry and the carpentry frame and for ensuring the flatness of the surface and the prescribed slope,

- adjustment of the jamb to the mounting sizes, characterized in that it further comprises the steps of

- making a recess between the carpentry frame (9) and the insulation and sealing material (12) for releasing the edge of the carpentry frame,

- inserting in said recess a first wing (1 ) of a profiled element for mounting the jamb (14) and fixing said first wing (1 ) to at least one protruding of the carpentry frame (9),

- inserting the jamb (14) to be mounted, previously covered with adhesive, between a second wing (2) of the profiled element for mounting the jamb (14) which is projected out of the said recess, followed by - aligning and maintaining the jamb (14) to be mounted to the alignment imposed by the second wing (2) in relation to the carpentry frame, for the final fixing of the jamb (14) to the masonry (11 ),

- followed by the finishing of the jamb with customary coatings such as decorative plaster or ceramic tiles.

13. Method according to claim 12 characterized in that the alignment and maintenance of the jamb (14) to be mounted is additionally carried out by means of a mesh (5) of fiberglass fixed in the extension of the second wing (2) of the profiled element for mounting the jamb and screws (8) for fixing and adjusting the position of the jamb (14) in relation to the masonry (11 ), said fixing and adjusting screws (8) being positioned at the edge of the jamb (14) to be mounted, opposite to the supporting alignment of the profiled element.

14. Method according to any one of claims 12 to 13 characterized in that it is applied to carpentry frames in both straight line and curved line.

Description:
Profiled element for mounting the jambs to carpentry frames and process for mounting the jambs to carpentry frames

The present invention relates to a profiled element for mounting the jambs to carpentry frames, to a kit for mounting the jambs and to a method for mounting the jambs to carpentry frames, for use in the construction field, in the finishing operations of built constructions.

Jambs are those construction elements used at lining the gap of a window or a door, being located around the perimeter of the said gap, on either side of window or door side.

In the case of windows and doors, the jambs are found both outside the constructions and inside them, at the junction of the carpentry frame with the masonry part and can have variable sizes, depending on the size of the carpentry frame and the thickness of the wall to be lined.

Mounting the jambs is a laborious operation in which the worker, putting the jamb in position to fix it with adhesive, must ensure holding and alignment of the jamb in relation to the carpentry frame as well as the flatness of the jamb in relation to the wall.

Usually, the worker uses various scraps of material found on site such as plasterboard profiles, wooden props, polystyrene scraps, nails, etc, to hold the jamb in position and to adjust the flatness of the jamb in relation to the wall.

Under these conditions, the operation for mounting the jambs is imprecise, there being a risk of significant deviations from the design requirements, both from a technical and aesthetic point of view, it requires a lot of effort at the time of flatness adjustment due to the need to use the bubble level throughout the mounting operation and it is time consuming.

The technical problem which the present invention solves is to make a profiled element for mounting the jambs which ensures positioning, supporting and aligning the jambs in relation to the carpentry frame for fixing thereof with adhesive and a fast and efficient method for mounting the jambs by means of the profiled element. The profiled element for mounting the jambs according to the invention eliminates the recited disadvantages and solves the mentioned technical problem by that it is in the form of a rod with a cross-sectional profile comprising a first wing (1 ) having a length k sufficient to be able to come into contact with at least one protruding of the carpentry frame (9) which fixes the insulating and sealing material (12) between the carpentry frame (9) and the masonry (11 ), from the side of the carpentry frame (9) where the jamb (14) is mounted, a second wing (2) extending in a direction opposite to the said first wing (1 ) having a length m sufficient to position and hold the jamb (14) to be mounted, and optionally, a third wing (3), positioned at the point of connection between the first wing (1 ) and the second wing (2) and which is extending perpendicular on one side only in respect to the surface determined by the two wings (1 , 2) having a length p sufficient to fulfil a stopper function at the surface level of the carpentry frame (9).

In one embodiment of the present invention the second wing (2) is in extension of the first wing (1 ).

In another embodiment of the present invention, the second wing (2) is offset from the direction of extension of the first wing (1 ), in a direction parallel to this direction of extension of the first wing (1 ), by a portion (4), perpendicular to the first wing (1 ), the said portion (4) having a predetermined length n which provides the necessary space for positioning the jamb (14) to be mounted between the second wing (2) and the masonry (11 ).

In another embodiment of the present invention, the profiled element for mounting the jambs has a second wing (2) additionally provided, in its extension, with a mesh (5) of fiberglass for additional support of the jamb (9) and ensuring the continuity of the surface of the jamb after finishing thereof.

In a further embodiment of the present invention, the profiled element for mounting the jambs is provided with a first wing (1 ) which is provided, on the contact side (A) with at least one protruding of the carpentry frame (9) which fixes the insulation and sealing material (12) between the carpentry frame (9) and the masonry (11 ), from the side of the carpentry frame (9) where the jamb (14) is mounted, with a first fastening means (6) which may be a self-adhesive tape or a gripping clamp which can be hooked onto the protruding of the carpentry frame. In another embodiment of the present invention, the profiled element for mounting the jambs is provided, on the contact side (B) with the carpentry frame (9) of the portion (4), with a second fastening means (7) on the carpentry frame (9) which may be a self- adhesive tape.

Another object of the present invention is a jamb for the carpentry frame which is provided with a profiled element for mounting the jambs according to the invention.

A further object of the present invention is a kit for mounting the jambs comprising a profiled for mounting the jambs additionally provided with a mesh (5) of fiberglass for additional support of the jamb (14) and screws (8) for fixing and adjusting the position of the jamb (14) in relation to the carpentry frame (9) and the masonry (11 ).

The profiled element for mounting the jambs is used both outside and inside the building, when applying the external thermal insulation or the internal plasterboard finish, being subsequently invisible, since this will be fully incorporated into the fagade, in the case of outdoor finish, or under the plasterboards, in the case of indoor finish, and covered with bonding adhesives, decorative plaster for outdoor or plaster for indoor.

The profiled element for mounting the jambs can be embedded beforehand at the end of the jamb which comes into contact with the carpentry frame, in any position chosen between the end of the jamb and a position embedded in the body of the jamb, so that only wing (1 ) remains extended outside the end of the jamb.

The embedding of the profiled element for mounting the jambs can be carried out by using suitable usual means of gripping and fastening such as self-adhesive tape, gripping clamps, etc., at the end of the jamb which comes into contact with the carpentry frame or by embedding the profiled element in the body of the jamb during the manufacturing process of the jamb.

The profiled element for mounting the jambs can be embedded in a jamb made of any usual material such as extruded polystyrene, high-density mineral wool, plasterboard or other thermal insulating materials used at finishing jambs.

The material, from which the profiled element according to the invention is made, is any suitable material chosen from a plastic material such as PVC, aluminium, steel and the like. The profiled element for mounting the jambs indoor is preferably made of aluminium.

The profiled element for mounting the jambs outdoor is preferably made of plastic material such as PVC.

The insulation and sealing material (12) between the carpentry frame (9) and masonry (11 ) is any material usually used in mounting a carpentry frame such as polyurethane foam.

The profiled element for mounting the jambs has, in cross-section, sizes which allow the functional role dedicated to each wing (1 ,2,3) and portion (4) to be fulfilled, namely, for the first wing (1 ), the role of contact and fixing with the carpentry frame, for the second wing (2), the role of positioning and supporting the jamb to be mounted, for the third wing (3), the role of a stopper at the surface level of the carpentry frame and for the portion (4), the role of providing the necessary space for positioning the jamb to be mounted between the second wing (2) and the masonry.

The first wing (1 ) preferably has a length k between 5 mm and 20 mm and more preferably between 10 mm and 15 mm.

The second wing (2) preferably has a length m between 15 mm and 80 mm and more preferably between 20 mm and 70 mm.

The third wing (3) preferably has a length p between 2 mm and 10 mm and more preferably between 2 mm and 5 mm.

The portion (4) preferably has a length n between 5 mm and 15 mm and more preferably between 10 mm and 15 mm.

The thickness of wings (1 ,2,3) and portion (4) depends on the material of which the profiled element is made, there being preferably between 0,2 mm and 3 mm.

The length q of mesh (5) of fiberglass may vary depending on the thickness of the masonry, there being preferably between 100 mm and 150 mm.

The length of the profiled element is in the usual range for profiled articles, namely 2500 mm to 3000 mm. The fixing and adjusting screws (8) are usual, self-drilling, snail-type screws made of plastic, having a length sufficient to pass through the thickness of jamb (14) and adhesive (13) and reach down to the insulation layer (10).

Depending on the flexibility of the material from which the profiled element is made, this can be used to mount the jambs to carpentry frames in both straight line and curved line.

In case of curved line carpentry frames, greater flexibility of the profiled element is required.

Another object of the present invention is a method for mounting the jambs to carpentry frames comprising the steps of:

- preparation of the surface on which the jamb is to be applied for eliminating the unevenness from the construction and unevenness of the insulation material between the masonry and the carpentry frame and for ensuring the flatness of the surface and the prescribed slope,

- adjustment of the jamb to the mounting sizes, and it further comprises the steps of:

- making a recess between the carpentry frame (9) and the insulation and sealing material (12) for releasing the edge of the carpentry frame,

- inserting in said recess a first wing (1 ) of a profiled element for mounting the jamb and fixing said first wing (1 ) to at least one protruding of the carpentry frame (9),

- inserting the jamb (14) to be mounted, previously covered with adhesive, between a second wing (2) of the profiled element for mounting the jamb (14) which is projecting out of said recess, followed by

- aligning and holding the jamb (14) to be mounted to the alignment imposed by the second wing (2) in relation to the carpentry frame, for the final fixing of the jamb (14) to the masonry (11 ),

- followed by finishing the jamb (14) with customary coatings such as decorative plaster or ceramic tiles.

In one embodiment of the present invention, the method for mounting the jambs to carpentry frames comprises aligning and holding the jamb (14) to be mounted, additionally, by means of a mesh (5) of fiberglass fixed in the extension of the second wing (2) of the profiled element for mounting the jamb and screws (8) for fixing and adjusting the position of the jamb (14) in relation to masonry (11 ), the said fixing and adjusting screws (8) being positioned at the edge of the jamb to be mounted opposite to the support alignment of the profiled element.

In another embodiment of the present invention, in which the profiled element for mounting the jamb is embedded beforehand in the body of the jamb to be mounted, the method for mounting the jamb to the carpentry frame comprising the steps of:

- making a recess between the carpentry frame (9) and the insulation and sealing material (12) for releasing the edge of the carpentry frame,

- inserting into the said recess that first wing (1 ) of the profiled element for mounting the jamb previously embedded in the jamb to be mounted which is previously covered with adhesive and fixing the said first wing (1 ) to at least one protruding of the carpentry frame (9),

- aligning and maintaining the jamb (14) to be mounted at the alignment imposed in relation to the carpentry frame, for the final fixing of the jamb (14) to masonry (11 ),

- followed by finishing the jamb (14) with customary coatings such as decorative plaster or ceramic tiles.

The method according to the invention is applicable to carpentry frames of any shape, in both straight line and curved line.

Also, the method according to the invention is applicable to both indoor and outdoor of the construction.

The profiled element for mounting the jambs according to the invention has the advantage that it allows the worker to carry out the mounting of the jambs in compliance with the technical requirements of flatness and specific angles of the design very easy, in a very short time, obtaining a quality finish from a technical and aesthetic point of view.

Also, the profiled element according to the invention has the advantage that it implicitly ensures the sealing between the jamb and the carpentry frame.

A further advantage is that the profiled element can be used to mount the jambs following the shape of the carpentry frame, whatever it may be, in a straight line or curved line. The material, from which the profiled element is made, is chosen depending on its further use, in a straight line or curved line, for curved line being necessary a material with greater flexibility.

The method for mounting the jambs according to the invention has the advantage that it allows an increase of the speed of execution, the duration of the mounting being significantly reduced, while the resulted assembly is technically and aesthetically qualitative.

The profiled element for mounting the jambs according to the present invention is presented with reference to the following figures.

Fig. 1 shows a cross-sectional view of an embodiment of a profiled element without mesh of fiberglass, with offset wings 1 and 2, provided with a first fastening means (6) on side A of wing 1 and a second fastening means (7) on side B of portion 4.

Fig. 2 shows a cross-sectional view of an embodiment of a profiled element additionally provided with a mesh of fiberglass, with offset wings 1 and 2 and a wing 3, provided with a first fastening means (6) on side A of wing 1 and a second fastening means (7) on side B of the portion 4.

Fig. 3 shows a cross-sectional view of an embodiment of a profiled element without a mesh of fiberglass, with wings 1 and 2 in extension of each other and a wing 3, provided with a first fastening means (6) on side A of wing 1 .

Fig. 4 shows a cross-sectional view of an embodiment of a profiled element additionally provided with a mesh of fiberglass, with wings 1 and 2 in extension of each other and a wing 3, provided with a first fastening means (6) on the side A of wing 1 .

Further it is given an example of mounting a jamb positioned at the upper part of a straight carpentry frame on the outside of the building, by means of an profiled element with mesh of fiberglass as shown in figure 2 and with screws for fixing and adjusting the position of the jamb, with reference to figures 6 and 7. There are prepared the contact surfaces on which a profiled element according to the embodiment shown in figure 2 is to be fixed and the jamb (14), eliminating the unevenness in the construction and the unevenness in the insulation material between the masonry (11 ) and the carpentry frame (9).

The jamb (14) and the profiled element are adjusted to the size for mounting.

A recess is made between the carpentry frame (9) and the insulation and sealing material (12) by cutting the insulation material (12) for releasing the edge of the carpentry so that the wing (1 ) of the profiled element can be inserted.

The wing (1 ) of the profiled element is inserted into the recess made between the carpentry frame (9) and the insulation and sealing material (12) until the portion (4) reaches the surface of the carpentry frame (9), after which, the wing (1 ) is fixed to at least one protruding of the carpentry frame (9) by a first fastening means (6), pressing on the said wing (1 ) of the profiled element and the portion (4) is fixed to the side of the carpentry frame (9) by means of a second fastening means (7). The fastening means (6) of wing (1 ) of the profiled element can be a self-adhesive tape or a gripping clamp. The fastening means (7) of the portion (4) of the profiled element can be a self- adhesive tape.

Further, the jamb (14) loaded with adhesive is inserted between the second wing (2) of the profiled element and the masonry (11 ), without being necessary to use a tool for checking horizontality, since the profiled element is positioned and fixed on the carpentry frame, which is already perfectly mounted in the horizontal and vertical plane.

On the opposite side of the supporting alignment of the jamb (14) to the profiled element fixed in the carpentry frame, there are inserted fixing and adjusting screws (8) in the jamb (14), sized to pass through the thickness of the jamb (14) and the adhesive layer (13) and reach the outer thermal insulation layer (10).

By means of the screwing/unscrewing movement of the fixing and adjusting screws (8) the flatness of the jamb (14) is adjusted.

After the adhesive has dried, the ends of the screws are adjusted, by breaking or cutting, to the level of the surface of the jamb, the body of the screws remaining embedded in the thermal insulation layer. Depending on the length of the jamb, two or more fixing and adjusting screws can be applied.

Then, the jamb is covered with adhesive, thus reinforcing it with the mesh of fibreglass of the profiled element over its entire surface, and then is finished, optionally with additional reinforcement with mesh of fibreglass, and then with customary coatings such as decorative plaster or ceramic tiles.

In general, when jambs are installed indoor, a profiled element without mesh of fibreglass is used, according to the embodiment shown in figure 1 or figure 3, the working steps being the same as when using a profiled element with mesh of fibreglass except the adjusting of the flatness of the jamb by means of fixing and adjusting screws.

The profiled element for mounting the jambs and the method for mounting the jambs to the carpentry frames according to the invention are applicable for mounting the jambs of any usual material such as plasterboard, extruded polystyrene, etc.
