Abstract:
A system and method for studying a test subject (120) includes monitoring the test subject (120) as it traverses through a programmable maze (110). The test subject (120) may be under the influence of experimental drugs or genetic manipulation. The dynamic maze (110) can be changed automatically or manually to test the abilities of the test subject (120). The dynamic maze (110) comprises of a starting point (130), an ending point (150), and an electronically programmable floor (140) capable of constructing various obstacles and passageways. The programmable floor (40) may be programmed by a human user using an interface (740), or it may be programmed by an automated control system (720) that programs the maze (110) in accordance with the ability of the test subject (120) to traverse the maze (110). Various devices (160) are incorporated with the use of the maze (110) to monitor the activities and welfare of the test subject (120).
