Abstract:
A protection device (1) comprises a latch circuit (32), a release unit, and a switching unit. The latch circuit (32) maintains a latched state in which a first signal is output when the current value of a conductive path (104) has reached a limit value, and maintains a released state in which a second signal is output when a release signal has been provided. The release unit outputs a release signal to the latch circuit (32) after the passage of a fixed amount of time after output of the first signal from the latch circuit (32) has begun. The switching unit turns a switch 2 to an on state when the second signal has been output from the latch circuit (32), and turns the switch 2 to an off state when the first signal has been output. The release unit prohibits output of the release signal if the number of times of output of the release signal has reached a prescribed number of times within a predetermined counting period.
