Abstract:
[Problem]
To provide a protective material installation method whereby a protective material can be accurately installed on an installed body provided on the ocean floor.
[Solution]
A protective material installation method for installing a protective material on an installed body provided on the ocean floor, said protective material installation method having: a linear member attachment step wherein a linear member is attached to the protective material; a protective material attachment step wherein the protective material is attached to a protective material installation jig such that the linear member can be suspended from the protective material; a lowering step wherein the protective material installation jig is lowered into the ocean; a monitoring step wherein an image that includes the linear member is captured with an imaging device provided on the protective material installation jig, and the underwater area is monitored; a descent step wherein the protective material installation jig is lowered until the linear member reaches the ocean floor; a movement step wherein the protective material installation jig is moved so as to position the protective material above the installed body; and an installation step wherein the protective material installation jig is lowered, thereby installing the protective material on the installed body, and the protective material is detached from the protective material installation jig.
