Abstract:
Provided is a novel cupper efflux oxidase (CueO) variant having improved activity compared to wild types. A protein according to one or more embodiments of the present invention has laccase activity and comprises the amino acid sequence of [1] or [2]: [1] the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 14 into which mutations (a) and (b) have been introduced, mutation (a) being substitution of D360 with another amino acid other than D, and mutation (b) being at least one selected from substitution of G304 with another amino acid other than G, substitution of D373 with another amino acid other than D, and substitution of Q374 with another amino acid other than Q, the amino acid sequence including at least a region from position 29 to position 516; [2] the amino acid sequence having at least 90% sequence identity with the amino acid of [1], in which amino acid residues corresponding to position 360, position 304, position 373, and position 374 of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 14 are identical to those of the amino acid sequences of [1].
