Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an R-T-B based permanent magnet having high coercive force Hcj and residual flux density Br at room temperature and also having excellent coercive force Hcj and temperature characteristics at high temperatures. [Solution] Disclosed is an R-T-B based permanent magnet comprising R2T14B main phase crystal grains. R is at least one type of rare-earth element, T is at least one type of iron-group element essentially including Fe or Fe and Co, and B is boron. The R-T-B based permanent magnet further comprises C, wherein the content of C in the R2T14B main phase crystal grains is 300 ppm or less.
