Abstract:
An apparatus for manufacturing a rack bar to form a flattened portion on a hollow shaft member, the apparatus includes a flattening punch, a pair of molds movable in an open-close direction perpendicular to a pressing direction of the flattening punch, a cam having a pair of engaging portions to sandwich the pair of molds in the open-close direction, and a holder having a fitting hole in which the cam is fitted in the pressing direction of the flattening punch. The cam includes a first cam block and a second cam block, and is divided into the first cam block and the second cam block along a plane at which the pair of molds abuts against each other. The first cam block and the second cam block together form a cylindrical shape when combined with each other. According to the above configuration, durability of the apparatus can be improved.
