Abstract:
The present invention provides a radionuclide production system and a radionuclide production method that enable production of radionuclides with high efficiency using a small, light-weight, and highly-safe device. A radionuclide production system (100) for irradiating a liquid containing raw material nuclides with braking radiation to produce radionuclides, the system comprising: a circulation path (10) through which a liquid (11) containing raw material nuclides is circulated; and a radiation generator (20) that generates braking radiation (22) and irradiates the liquid (11) with the braking radiation (22), wherein the radionuclide production system (100) has, at an upper portion in the circulation path (10), a metal material (50) containing a pure metal of the platinum group or an alloy of the platinum group. A radionuclide production method comprising: irradiating a liquid (11) containing raw material nuclides with braking radiation (22) while the liquid is being circulated in a circulation path (10), to convert the raw material nuclides into radionuclides; and removing oxygen and hydrogen generated by radiolysis of the liquid (11) by subjecting the oxygen and hydrogen to a recombination reaction using a metal material (50) that is formed by a pure metal of the platinum group or an alloy of the platinum group at an upper portion in the circulation path (10).
