Abstract:

Provided are a method and an apparatus for manufacturing a rail wherein both a head section and a foot section have a high ductility. Disclosed are a rail manufacturing method and a rail manufacturing apparatus, whereby: a heated steel rail material is hot-rolled; temperature is adjusted by cooling the hot-rolled steel rail material; the steel rail material having been subjected to the temperature adjustment is processed into a rail shape by means of temperature-adjusted rolling at an area reduction rate equal to or more than 20 %; and at the time of adjusting the temperature of the steel rail material, the surface temperature of steel rail material portions, i.e., a head section and a foot section of the rail shape, is reduced to 500-1,000 °C.
