Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing a high-hardness high-quality rail by using a simple cooling method, irrespective of fluctuations in temperature in a longitudinal direction of the rail prior to the start of the cooling. This rail manufacturing method has a step of accelerated cooling of a rail having a temperature equal to or higher than an austenite region temperature, such that a region 5 mm deep from a cooling surface of a rail head part is partly austenitic at the point when the accelerated cooling is ended, and the surface temperature of the rail head part is in a perlite transformation temperature range at the point when heat recuperation subsequent to the accelerated cooling is completed.
