Title:
RECHARGEABLE BATTERY, FUNCTIONAL POLYMER, AND METHOD FOR SYNTHESIS THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/152471
Kind Code:
A2
Abstract:
Provided is a rechargeable battery with a higher degree of safety. Specifically provided is a rechargeable battery constituted so as to prevent overcharging. The rechargeable battery is a battery which uses a positive electrode material containing an n-doped region and p-doped region, and which is capable of multi-electron reactions, and the electrolyte salt concentration and absolute quantities of electrolytes (solid or liquid) are controlled. At the positive electrodes of this rechargeable battery, desorption of lithium ions initially occurs at a low potential (n-dope potential) during charging, then absorption of anions occurs at a higher potential (p-dope potential). At the n-dope potential, the carrier of ion current is lithium ions alone, but at the p-dope potential anion current flows on the positive electrode side, and lithium ion current on the negative electrode side. As a result, before overcharging occurs, the electrolyte concentration drops and internal resistance rises, thereby avoiding overcharging.
