A reciprocating compressor (1), comprising a first low pressure chamber (30A) leading a low pressure refrigerant into a pump chamber (43) of a cylinder (40), a second low pressure chamber (30B) leading the low pressure refrigerant into the pump chambers (43) of the other cylinders (41) and (43), and a high pressure chamber (38) leading a high pressure refrigerant delivered from the pump chamber (43), all provided on a main body (28), wherein suction pipes (18a) and (18b) in a refrigerant circuit are connected to the low pressure chambers (30A) and (30B), respectively, and a delivery pipe (9) in the refrigerant circuit is connected to the high pressure chamber (38), whereby the flow of the refrigerant can be controlled individually, various temperature zones different from each other can be temperature-controlled independently and efficiently without providing an effect by a variation in load applied to one evaporator (10) to the other evaporator (11), and thus the performance of the compressor (1) can be increased and the operating efficiency of a whole system including the compressor (1) and the refrigerant circuit can be increased.
