Abstract:
The problem of the present invention is to sever a recording medium at a correct position without using a position detection mechanism or a cutting mechanism. To solve this problem the following configuration is provided to a recording device in which a recording head provided with a plurality of heat-generating elements heats a sheet-form recording medium containing a layering of a plurality of color-developing layers that correspond to a plurality of colors and develop colors in response to heating, and a desired color-developing layer independently caused to develop color to form an image on the recording medium. A print job, which includes recording data and information indicating whether or not the recording medium is to be severed, is inputted from a host device. When the print job indicates that the recording medium is to be severed, image data for forming an image on the recording medium and cut information for specifying the position where the recording medium is to be severed are generated from the recording data. Next, a first pulse for driving the plurality of heat-generating elements is generated on the basis of the image data, and a second pulse for driving the plurality of heat-generating elements is generated on the basis of the cut information. Subsequently, the plurality of heat-generating elements are driven by the first pulse to form an image on the recording medium, while the plurality of heat-generating elements are driven by the second pulse to apply heat exceeding the melting point of the recording medium to melt and sever the recording medium.
