Abstract:

A recording device and a recording method, a reproducing device and a reproducing method, and a program, which make it easily possible to discriminate whether or not a recording medium has been recorded by a self device. A self/other device kind information creating unit (41) creates self/other device kind information indicating that the recording has been made at each predetermined recording unit by the self device. A discrimination code operation unit (42) creates a VMGI and an effective management table (TV) into a continuous data series and the result of the operation of a hash value into a discrimination code. A recording/reproducing device (1) records the discrimination code and the self/other device kind information in the area of managing table (TV) of an optical disk (51). The recording/reproducing device (1) reads, in case the discrimination code determined by operating the hash value and the discrimination code recorded in the optical disk (51) are identical, the self/other device kind information.
