This recording device for a vehicle is provided with an imaging data acquisition unit (120) that acquires imaging data captured by a camera provided to the vehicle, a position information acquisition unit (128) that acquires position information indicating a current position of the vehicle, a travel route determination unit (129) that determines, on the basis of the position information acquired by the position information acquisition unit (128), whether the road width in the direction in which the vehicle is traveling is a narrow road as a determination condition, an oncoming vehicle information acquisition unit (130) that acquires information indicating whether an oncoming vehicle is present on the road determined to be narrow by the travel route determination unit (129), and a recording control unit (123) that records the imaging data acquired by the imaging data acquisition unit (120) so as to be overwritable, and, when the travel route determination unit (129) has determined that the road is narrow and the oncoming vehicle information acquisition unit (130) has acquired information indicating the presence of an oncoming vehicle, saves the imaging data acquired by the imaging data acquisition unit (120) as passing data able to be played back quickly.
