Abstract:
A refractory which is prepared by forming a refractory material composition comprising a refractory material comprising graphite particles having an average particle diameter of 500 nm or less or a refractory material comprising graphite particles obtained by graphitizing carbon black and a refractory aggregate; or a refractory which is prepared by forming a refractory material composition comprising a carbonaceous particles (A) having a DBP absorption (x) of 80 ml/100 g or more selected from carbon black and graphite particles obtained by graphitizing carbon black, a carbonaceous particles (B) having a DBP absorption (x) of less than 80 ml/100 g selected from carbon black and graphite particles obtained by graphitizing carbon black, and a refractory aggregate. The refractory provides a carbon-containing refractory, in particular, the one having a reduced content of carbon, which is excellent in the resistance to corrosion, oxidation and thermal shock.
