Abstract:
A refrigerator with excellent safety is provided which has a storage chamber that can freeze, store and defrost a stored item housed in the storage chamber in a desired state, and which has highly reliable cooling and storage functions. This refrigerator is provided with an air path which guides cold air from a cooling mechanism to a storage chamber, an oscillating electrode which is provided in the storage space in the storage chamber, a counter electrode which is provided in the storage space opposite of the oscillating electrode, a high-frequency electric field forming unit for forming a high-frequency electric field applied between the oscillating electrode and the counter electrode, and a control unit which controls the period for introducing cold air into the storage chamber and the application of the high-frequency electric field formed between the oscillating electrode and the counter electrode.
