Abstract:
The present invention relates to a refrigerator. The refrigerator according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: an evaporator executing a thermal exchange; a defrost heater which operates to remove frost implanted on the evaporator; a temperature sensor for sensing the temperature around the evaporator; and a controller for controlling the defrost heater. The controller, when a defrosting operation start point is reached, controls a defrosting operation mode to be executed, the defrosting operation mode including a cooling-before-defrost mode, a heater operation mode, and a cooling-after-defrost mode. In addition, according to the heater operation mode, the controller controls a pulse operation mode, in which the defrost heater is repeatedly turned on and off, to be executed, and according to a turning-on period of the defrost heater or the temperature of a cooling chamber in the pulse operation mode, the controller controls an amount of a cooling force supplied in the cooling-after-defrost mode to be variable. Accordingly, a defrosting efficiency may be increased, a power consumption may be improved, and the cooling force after the defrosting may be efficiently supplied.
