Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing: a reinforced fiber bundle that satisfies texture and convergence properties and is suitable for composite materials such as a random mat; and a method for producing the reinforced fiber bundle. The solution to the problem is a reinforced fiber bundle and a method for producing the same. In the reinforced fiber bundle, a sizing agent adheres to the surfaces thereof. The sizing agent comprises as the main component a thermoplastic resin, contains an emulsion or dispersion, and in terms of the sizing agent solid content, has a melt viscosity at 150˚C and a shear speed of 10s-1 of 50 to 300 Pa·s. Furthermore, preferably the sizing agent contains a water-soluble polymer, or the sizing agent contains a water-insoluble polymer, and preferably the reinforced fiber bundle is a carbon fiber bundle.
