Abstract:
The present technology pertains to a reproduction device, a reproduction method, a program, and a recording medium that enable prevention of an unnatural luminance change when another piece of information is displayed by being superimposed on a video. A reproduction device according to an aspect of the present technology adds, when a video stream to which dynamic meta data including luminance information of a picture is added is received and the picture is displayed with prescribed information superimposed thereon, meta data indicated by a flag which indicates the meta data used for adjusting luminance during the displaying with the prescribed information superimposed onto the picture which constitutes the received video stream, and outputs, to a display device, the picture to which the meta data has been added. The present technology can be applied to a Blu-ray (registered trademark) disc player.
