Abstract:
Disclosed is a reproduction device in which a bytecode processing unit constitutes a platform unit (20) and reads out and runs a bytecode application from read-only media (105). The reproduction device is provided with: a reproduction control unit (10) for controlling AV reproduction performed by means of digital streaming; and a device-specific function control unit (33) for executing content control functions that are specific to devices. The bytecode application can employ an API for reproduction control functions and an API for socket communication. When requesting the reproduction control unit (10) to carry out reproduction control, the bytecode application calls the reproduction control API and thereby instructs the reproduction control unit of the reproduction device to carry out processing. When requesting execution of a device-specific function of the reproduction device, the bytecode application calls a function in the socket communication API to thereby instruct the device-specific function control unit to carry out processing.
