　According to the present invention, there is provided a resin-coated metal sheet having a polyester resin coating formed on at least one surface of a metal sheet, wherein the resin-coated metal sheet is characterized in that the polyester resin is an ethylene terephthalate-based polyester resin, and the degree of biaxial orientation, which is expressed as a value obtained by dividing the highest peak strength of the peaks of a range of 23 to 29° of the X-ray diffraction angle 2θ of a (100) surface of the polyester resin coating by the thickness of the polyester resin coating, is in a range of 3.0 to 8.0 cps/μm. This resin-coated metal sheet can be easily manufactured in large quantities, and even when cans are manufactured by a strict formation process such as drawing and ironing, the metal exposure incidence in the inner surfaces of the cans is low, and corrosion in the seaming parts is effectively suppressed.
