One of the purposes of the present invention is to provide a lignin modified using a plant-derived compound, the modified lignin exhibiting, as a result, excellent curability and a strong rubber-strengthening effect. Furthermore, the present invention provides a rubber composition which retains a high degree of plant derivation while improving molding properties or elasticity. The provided modified lignin derivative is characterized in that a lignin derivative is modified using a plant-derived compound. One or more of the embodiments stipulate that the plant-derived compound contains one or more types of tung oil, linseed oil, cashew oil, and tall oil.
