The present invention provides a retainer formed by combining a first retainer and a second retainer in order to hold, from the outside, a gas generator housing that has a peripheral wall part with no flange part. The first retainer has a first annular peripheral wall part, a first flange part, a first inner protrusion part, and a first bent part. The second retainer has a second annular peripheral wall part and a second flange part. The first retainer is fitted to the gas generator housing from the top plate side or bottom plate side such that the first annular peripheral wall part abuts with a portion of the peripheral wall part of the gas generator housing. The second retainer is fitted to the gas generator housing from the bottom plate side or top plate side such that the second annular peripheral wall part abuts with the remaining portion of the peripheral wall part of the gas generator housing. The first flange part and the second flange part are made to abut so as to hold the gas generator housing.
