Abstract:
The present invention provides a thin retardation layer–equipped polarizing plate in which metal corrosion can be suppressed. A retardation layer–equipped polarizing plate according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a polarizing plate that includes a polarizing film containing iodine and having a first main surface and a second main surface on opposite sides from one another; an adhesive layer that is disposed on the second main surface side of the polarizing film; a retardation layer that is disposed between the polarizing film and the adhesive layer; and an inorganic film that contains silicon and is disposed between the polarizing film and the adhesive layer, wherein the thickness of the section of layers from the polarizing plate to the layer adjacent to the adhesive layer is no larger than 50 μm.
