Abstract:
Compounds represented by the general formula (I) or salts thereof, having an ability to potentiate the physiological activities of retinoic acid or retinoids: (I) [wherein R?1¿ is hydrogen or C¿1-6? alkyl; R?2¿ and R?3¿ are each hydrogen, C¿1-6? alkyl, or the like; R?4¿, R?5¿, and R?6¿ are each hydrogen, halogeno, C¿1-6? alkyl, or the like; Y is phenylene or pyridinediyl; X is S- or N(R?7¿)- (wherein R?7¿ is hydrogen or C¿1-6? alkyl); and Z is C-R?8¿ (wherein R?8¿ is hydrogen, halogeno, or the like) or N], mor e specifically, compounds represented by the general formula (I) or salts thereof [wherein (1) Z is N, or (2) R?1¿ is hydrogen or C¿1-6? alkyl; R?2¿ and R?3¿ together with the ring-constituent carbon atoms to which they are bonded form a six-membered ring bearing one or more C¿1-4? alkyl groups; R?4¿, R?5¿, and R?6¿ are each hydrogen; Y is pyridinediyl; X is S-; and Z is CH].
