Description:

Description

THE REVOLVING TYPE IRONING BOARD

Technical Field

[1] The present invention relates to a rotary ironing board, and more particular, to a rotary ironing board in which it is possible to use multiple sides in one ironing plate while rotating or fixing by a desired angle in a state where the clothing article is tightly put onto the ironing plate, so that a front and rear portion, a shoulder and sleeve, a side portion (including a side sewing line) of the clothing article can be readily ironed. Background Art

[2] Generally, an ironing is performed on the top surface of a conventional ironing board in a state where the ironing board is spread out. Thus, the previously ironed portions such as a front and back portion, and a side portion of a clothing article are overlapped with a non-ironed portion, and the ironed portion may be wrinkled.

[3] The Korean Patent No. 500162 entitled double-sided ironing board has been disclosed in which it is possible to use double-sided ironing plate while rotating a front and rear side thereof in a state where the ironing board is spread out, and an ironing is performed only by rotating the ironing plate in a state where a certain clothing article is put onto the ironing plate, thereby being conveniently ironed.

[4] However, the double-sided ironing board has a drawback in that since it is constructed such that the ironing board makes a turn only by 180 degree without being vertically erected with respect to a horizontal axis, a user suffers from an inconvenience of having to take off a clothing article from the ironing board in order to iron each shoulder, sleeve, and a side sewing line of the clothing article.

[5] The Korean Patent Laid-Open Publication No.2000-5471 entitled by rolling-type ironing board has been disclosed, and it is constructed such that a cylindrical ironing plate member is rotated about a central axis and a steam iron is used so that the internal steam of the ironing plate member is removed by means of an operation of a fan rotated by a motor.

[6] However, there are drawbacks in that since it doesn't provide a mechanism for suspending the rotation of the ironing plate member, a user has to grip the ironing plate member or a clothing article with a his or her hand, in that since it doesn't provide a means for ironing the shoulder pad or sleeve of the clothing article, a user cannot iron the shoulder portion of the clothing article, and in that since a steam iron is used, a fan or a motor for exhausting the internal steam of the ironing plate member has to be provided, thereby causing a complicated configuration. Disclosure of Invention

Technical Problem

[7] Accordingly, the present invention has been made in an effort to solve the above- mentioned problems occurring in the prior art, and it is an object of the present invention to provide a rotary ironing board in which when an ironing plate is rotated in a state where a cloth is put on the ironing plate, the clothing article is placed as if a user wearing the clothing article lay with his or her face up or down, and lay on his or her side, so that a front and rear portion, a shoulder and sleeve, a side portion (including a side sewing line) of the clothing article can be readily ironed. Particularly, when the ironing plate is bended upwardly and erected with respect to a horizontal axis as if a user wearing the clothing article sat, the shoulder pad of the clothing article is horizontally placed, so that an ironing is readily ironed.

Technical Solution

[8] To accomplish the above object, according to the present invention, there is provided a rotary ironing board in which an ironing is performed by rotating an ironing plate in a state where a clothing article is put onto the ironing plate. The rotary ironing board comprises an ironing plate composed of a top side-ironing portion, a shoulder and sleeve-ironing portion, a side-ironing portion, and a bottom side-ironing portion, the ironing plate being rotated normally and reversely about a central shaft which is longitudinally disposed at an inner center thereof; a support means for supporting the ironing plate while rotataby supporting the central shaft; an ironing plate adjustment means for adjusting the position of the ironing plate so as to rotate or fix the ironing plate; and a pair of legs connected to the support means in such a manner as to cross each other so as to adjust the height of the ironing plate.

Advantageous Effects

[9] As described above, according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, a front and rear portion, a shoulder and sleeve, and a side portion including a side sewing line of the clothing article can be readily ironed by rotating the ironing plate at a desired angle and direction. In particular, when an auxiliary top side-ironing portion is bended upwardly and erected with respect to a horizontal axis, the shoulder pad of the clothing article is readily ironed.

[10] Therefore, the rotary ironing board of the invention has effects in that since it has a configuration such that the ironing plate is rotated integrally with the central shaft in a state where it is fitted around the central shaft, and it is rotated and fixed (by each of respective stages) by a desired angle, it is convenient to use and has a simple configuration, thereby being easily manufactured. [21] Hereinafter, a preferred embodiment of the invention will be explained in detail with reference to the appended drawings.

[22] FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an ironing plate of a rotary ironing board according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 2 is a perspective view of a rotary ironing board according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 3 is a front view of a rotary ironing board according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention. The rotary ironing board of the invention comprises an ironing plate 100 having a shaft bushing 100a internally formed into which a central shaft 101 is fitted; an auxiliary ironing plate 600 capable of going into and out of the inside of the ironing plate 100 and adapted to iron a sleeve of a clothing article when being collapsably disposed on the upper surface of the ironing plate 100; a support means 200 for supporting the ironing plate 100, which is normally and reversely rotated by 360 degree, at an end of the ironing plate 100; and legs 400 connected at each upper end thereof to the support means 200 for adjusting the height of the ironing plate 100.

[23] The ironing plate 100 is composed of a top side-ironing portion 102, a bottom side- ironing portion 103, a shoulder and sleeve-ironing portion 104a, and a side-ironing

portion 104. Further, the rotary ironing plate of the invention further includes an auxiliary top side-ironing portion 105 bended upwardly, and a shoulder pad- ironing portion 106 for ironing the shoulder pad of the clothing article when being erected with respect to a horizontal axis. The auxiliary ironing plate 600 is constructed such that it goes into and out through an entrance opening 601 formed on a side of the side-ironing portion 104.

[24] The ironing plate 100 has a configuration such that an ironing is performed in a state where a clothing article is put onto the ironing plate 100. First, a back surface of a Y-shirt is ironed in a state where the back surface and a shoulder surface of the Y-shirt are placed on the top side-ironing portion 102 and the auxiliary top side-ironing portion 105, respectively. Thereafter, when the auxiliary top side-ironing portion 105 is bended upwardly, the shoulder pad of the Y-shirt placed on the shoulder pad-ironing portion 106 may be readily ironed.

[25] The central shaft 101 fitted into the ironing plate 100 is inserted into the support means 200. Thus, the ironing plate 100 is normally and reversely rotated by 360 degree with the central shaft 101. Further, the support means 200 includes an ironing plate adjustment means 300 for adjusting the rotation angle of the ironing plate 100. When the ironing plate 100 is vertically erected by 90 degree by means of the ironing plate adjustment means 300, the side-ironing portion 104 and the shoulder and sleeve- ironing portion 104a are moved upwardly, so that the side sewing line and the shoulder of the Y-shirt can be readily ironed. Further, when the bottom side-ironing portion 103 is moved upwardly while rotating the ironing plate 100 by 180 degree, the front surface of the Y-shirt can be readily ironed.

[26] FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view showing an adjustment state of the auxiliary top side-ironing portion of the rotary ironing board of the present invention, and FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view as taken along the line A-A of FIG. 3. The auxiliary top side- ironing portion 105 is connected to the top side-ironing portion 102 by means of a hinge 107, and has an adjustment lever 109 elastically formed inside thereof, which is bended upwardly by means of a hinge 108, through a spring 113 and a guide pin 114. The adjustment lever 109 has a grip 110 and a protrusion 111 formed on an end thereof, and the auxiliary top side-ironing portion 105 has a plurality of jaws 112 arranged on the inner surface thereof, on which the protrusion 111 is latched in multiple stages.

[27] The plurality of jaws 112 is obliquely formed only in one direction so as to allow the protrusion 111 to be latched on the plural jaws 112 in a state where the auxiliary top side-ironing portion 105 is erected with respect to the horizontal axis. Accordingly, when the auxiliary top side-ironing portion 105 is bended upwardly, the shoulder pad- ironing portion 106 is moved upwardly, so that the shoulder pad of the Y-shirt may be

readily ironed. At this time, the auxiliary top side-ironing portion 105 is kept being erected in the state where the protrusion 111 is latched on the plurality of jaws 112. When a user pulls the grip 110 so as to return to the initial position of the auxiliary top side-ironing portion 105, the protrusion 111 is separated from the plurality of jaws 112, to thereby allow the auxiliary top side-ironing portion 105 to be placed on its initial position.

[28] The ironing plate adjustment means 30 includes an adjustment disc 301, into which the central shaft 101 is inserted, in such a manner as to be integrally rotated with the central shaft 101. The adjustment disc 301 has a plurality of saw-teeth 302 formed on the outer peripheral surface thereof. Further, the ironing plate adjustment means 30 further includes a pawl 303 elastically mounted thereon by means of a spring 304 so as to mesh with the saw-teeth 302 in a forward or rearward direction. At this time, the pawl 303 is connected to a pedal 306 through a wire 305. Thus, when a user steps on the pedal 306 with his or her foot, the wire 305 is pulled and the spring 304 is pressurized, so that the pawl 303 is separated from the plurality of saw-teeth 302, thereby allowing the ironing plate 100 to be freely rotated.

[29] The ironing plate 100 is constructed such that the central shaft 101 is integrally fitted into the center inside of the ironing plate 100. The ironing plate 100 is integrally molded and then the central shaft 101 is inserted and fixed to the ironing plate 100. Alternatively, the ironing plate 100 is separately molded in such a manner as to be divided into an upper and a lower side of the ironing plate 100, and then the central shaft 101 is inserted into the ironing plate 100 in the process where the upper and lower sides of the ironing plate 100 are assembled with each other. Further, the end of the central shaft 101 which is protruded from an end of the ironing plate 100 is inserted into a shaft bushing 202a fixedly mounted on the inside of the support means 200, thereby allowing the ironing plate 100 and the central shaft 101 to be rotated about the shaft bushing 202a.

[30] FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional view of a leg adjustment portion of the rotary ironing board according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention.

[31] A pair of legs pair of legs is connected to the support means 200 in such a manner as to cross each other so as to adjust the height of the ironing plate 100.

[32] Preferably, since the support means 200 is mounted on a board 201, the pair of legs is connected at both upper ends thereof to the board 201 by means of the hinge 406 formed on the underside of the board 201. Further, the pair of legs 400 has a leg-fixing member 401 and a leg passing-through member 402 mounted in the center portion where the pair of legs is crossed with each other. Here, the leg is fitted into the outer peripheral surface of the leg-fixing member 401, and the leg passes through the center of the leg passing-through member 402. Further, the leg passing-through member 402

has a bolt 403 and a shaft 404 mounted on both sides thereof. The bolt 403 is engaged with a nut 405, and the shaft 404 is engaged with a side of the leg-fixing member 401. That is, the leg-fixing member 401 is engaged and fixed by means of the nut 405.

[33] FIG. 7 is a perspective view showing a clamp portion of the rotary ironing board according to a preferred embodiment of the invention. An iron storage section 500 is mounted above the support means 200 so as to store the iron therein. The iron storage section 500 has a clamp shaft 502 mounted on both sides thereof, which is rotated about a hinge 501. Further, the clamp shaft 502 has a pair of clamps 503 mounted on both ends thereof for clamping both lower ends of a trouser. Here, the clamp shaft 502 is bendingly formed in a "D" shape, and hence is rotated toward the iron storage section 500 when not in use, thereby reducing the storage volume.

[34] FIG. 8 is a perspective view of an auxiliary ironing plate of the rotary ironing board according to a preferred embodiment of the invention. A withdrawing plate 602 is connected at an end thereof to the auxiliary ironing plate 600 via a connection plate 605. The withdrawing plate 602 has a guide pin 602 formed thereon, which is fitted in a guide groove 603 formed on the withdrawing plate 602. At this time, the withdrawing plate 602 goes in and out of the inside of the ironing plate 100 by means of the guide pin 602. The withdrawing plate 602, the connection plate 605, and the auxiliary ironing plate 600 are coupled with one another by means of a hinge 606. Thus, the auxiliary ironing plate 600 and the connection plate 605 are horizontally placed and inserted into the inside of the ironing plate 100 together with the withdrawing plate 602, thereby being stored.

[35] Further, when the auxiliary ironing plate 600 is used, a side of the auxiliary ironing plate 600 which is exposed to the outside is pulled to the outside of the ironing plate 100, and then the connection plate 605 and the auxiliary ironing plate 600 are bended in the order named so as to allow the auxiliary ironing plate 600 to be placed on the upper surface of the ironing plate 100.

[36] The rotary ironing board of the invention constructed as described above can readily iron the front and rear side, the side sewing line, the shoulder and sleeves of a clothing article while rotating the ironing plate 100 in a state where a clothing article is put onto the ironing plate 100. Particularly, when the auxiliary top side-ironing portion 105 is erected upwardly with respect to the horizontal axis, the shoulder pad of the clothing article can be readily ironed.

[37] Hereinafter, an ironing process will be described in detail. First, a Y-shirt is put onto the ironing plate 100 in such a manner that the back surface of the Y-shirt is placed on the top side-ironing portion 102 and the shoulder surface of the Y-shirt is placed on the auxiliary top side-ironing portion 105. Thereafter, first, the back surface of the Y-shirt placed on the top side-ironing portion 102 is ironed. When the auxiliary

top side-ironing portion 105 is erected upwardly with respect to the horizontal axis, the protrusion 111 is slidably latched on the last one of the plurality of jaws 112 obliquely formed only in one direction while being pressurized by the spring 113. As a result, the state where the auxiliary top side-ironing portion 105 is erected is maintained, thereby readily ironing the shoulder pad of the clothing article.

[38] After the ironing of the shoulder is completed, the grip 110 is again pulled and the adjustment lever 109 is regulated so as to allow the protrusion 111 to be separated from the plurality of jaws 112, and then the auxiliary top side-ironing portion 105 is returned to its initial position so as to be horizontally disposed with respect to the top side-ironing portion 102. Thereafter, when the grip 110 is unhanded, the protrusion 111 is latched on the jaws 112 by means of the spring 113, thereby allowing the auxiliary top side-ironing portion 105 to be horizontally fixed. After that, when a user steps on the pedal 306, the pawl 303 is separated from the plurality of saw-teeth 302 while the wire 305 is pulled. As a result, since the ironing plate 100 is freely rotated, the side-ironing portion 104 is manually regulated so as to be moved upwardly while rotating the ironing plate 100 in a certain direction about the central shaft 101. When the side-ironing portion 104 is moved upwardly, the stepping of the pedal is loosened. At this time, the pawl 303 is meshed with the saw-teeth 302 by means of the restoring force of the spring 304, thereby allowing the central shaft 101 and the ironing plate 100 to be fixed. As a result, the shoulders, sleeves and the side sewing line of the clothing article can be readily ironed.

[39] Subsequently, when the ironing of the side sewing line is completed, the bottom side-ironing portion 103 is moved upwardly while rotating the ironing plate 100 while the pedal 306 is stepped, thereby ironing the front surface of the clothing article. Thereafter, when the ironing plate 100 is again rotated, the opposite side sewing line of the clothing article can be ironed, thereby completing the ironing process of the clothing article. The collar of the clothing article may be readily ironed on the top side- ironing portion 102. When the ironing plate 100 is rotated to conform to the respective ironing processes, the pedal 306 has to be stepped. When the ironing plate 100 is fixed, the stepping of the pedal 306 has to be loosened. Since when the stepping of the pedal 306 is loosened, the pawl 303 is separated form the saw-teeth 302, so that the position of the ironing plate 100 can be regulated.

[40] In order to iron the waist portion of a trousers, the waist portion is put onto the ironing plate 100 in such a manner as to be oriented toward a side of the ironing board where the support means 200 is not be positioned, thereby readily ironing the waist portion. Further, in order to iron the whole trousers, the trousers is placed on the top side-ironing portion 102, and then both lower ends of the trousers is held by means of the pair of clamps 503, thereby readily ironing the whole trousers.

[41] When the auxiliary ironing plate 600 is used, the ironing plate 100 is horizontally placed, the auxiliary ironing plate 600 exposed to the outside through the entrance opening 601 is pulled, and then is bended in multi stages, so that the auxiliary ironing plate 600 is placed on the top side-ironing portion 102, thereby readily ironing the sleeves of the clothing article.

[42] FIG. 9 is a front view of a rotary ironing board according to another preferred embodiment of the present invention. The rotary ironing board of another preferred embodiment of the invention has an identical configuration to that of the foregoing embodiment, except that the support means 200 is mounted in both sides of the ironing plate 100, respectively, so that the central shaft 101 is supported by the respective support meanss 200, thereby preventing the ironing plate 100 from being inclined even though a heavy weighted article is placed on the ironing plate 100.

[43] While the present invention has been described with reference to the particular illustrative embodiments, it is not to be restricted by the embodiments but only by the appended claims. It is to be appreciated that those skilled in the art can change or modify the embodiments without departing from the scope and spirit of the present invention.
