Abstract:
The present invention improves the communication characteristics of an inlay by means of an auxiliary antenna while protecting the inlay from physical and mechanical external forces, shocks, and the like, and avoiding constraints associated with dipole antennas. To achieve this, the present invention comprises: an inlay 10 which is equipped with an IC chip 11 and either only a loop circuit antenna 12 on which the IC chip 11 is mounted or both the loop circuit antenna 12 and a monopole antenna 12a connected to the loop circuit antenna 12, and which is equipped with no other antennas; a housing 50 which houses the inlay 10 in the interior thereof; and a planar top cover 20 which covers one surface side of the housing 50. The top cover 20 is formed from a prescribed metal material and is provided with a cut-out section 21 that is open on at least one side. The inlay 10 is disposed within the housing 50 such that the inlay 10 is positioned inside the cut-out section 21. The top cover 20 is electrically connected to the inlay 10 and thereby functions as an antenna for the inlay 10.
