Disclosed are a robot and a control method for the robot. The robot comprises a camera, a communication interface, a memory for storing 3-dimensional information corresponding to a specific space, and at least one processor. When an electronic device is identified from an image obtained through the camera while the robot is driven in the specific space, the at least one processor obtains identification information of the identified electronic device. The at least one processor transmits, to the electronic device through the communication interface, an operation verification signal corresponding to the type of the identified electronic device. When an operation of the electronic device according to the operation verification signal is identified, the at least one processor identifies location information of the electronic device in the specific space. The at least one processor updates the 3-dimensional information by mapping the electronic device to the specific space on the basis of the identification information of the electronic device and the location information of the electronic device.
