Abstract:

The purpose of the invention is to provide a cage, which is particularly suitable for extra-large roller bearings and for which hardness is easily improved, production cost can be reduced, dimensional control and precision control are easy, and abrasion of the roller end faces does not progress easily. A cage (1A), which has a shape in which a pair of ring sections (4, 6), which are separated in the axial direction, are connected by posts (5) that are in sliding contact with the outer circumferential surfaces of the rollers (RA), and in which pocket holes (P) for accommodating and holding the rollers (RA) are formed on the circumferential wall at equal intervals in the circumferential direction. The cage has, as separate members, a base (2), which is obtained from the ring section (4) and the posts (5) with square post-shaped protrusions (5A) provided on the tips of the posts (5), and a connector (3), which is obtained from the ring section (6) and is provided with square holes (6A) that fit together with the square post-shaped protrusions (5A). The base and connector (2, 3) are: manufactured starting from blanks, which are steel plates that have been cut; obtained by forming tongue pieces (7), which protrude from the outer circumference of the ring section (4) between the posts (5,5) and forming inclined surfaces (8), which will be in surface contact with the end faces (T2) of the rollers (RA), on the tongue pieces (7); and joined and secured with the square post-shaped protrusions (5A) engaged with the square holes (6A).
