This roller bearing is provided with inner and outer rings (2, 3), rollers (4, 5) interposed between the raceway surfaces of the inner and outer rings (2, 3), and retainers (10L, 10R) for retaining the rollers (4, 5). The rollers (4, 5) each have, on the outer circumferential surface thereof, a DLC film which comprises a metal layer, an intermediate layer including a metal and DLC, and a surface layer including DLC, in order from the base material side of the roller (4, 5). The intermediate layer is of two-layer structure having an upper layer and a lower layer, the upper layer is a DLC-rich layer in which the content of the DLC is higher than in the lower layer, and the lower layer is a metal-rich layer in which the content of the metal is higher than in the upper layer. The film thickness of the metal-rich layer is 100-300 nm. Further, the intermediate layer has a gradient composition in which the content of the metal decreases and the content of the DLC increases from the metal layer side toward the surface layer side.
