Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of reducing hitting sound between rolling bodies and engagement sections by optimizing an eccentricity amount which is the distance between the center of an eccentric rotating body and the center of a bearing to reduce backlash in a speed reducer, and also the problem of obtaining improved durability by reducing surface pressure acting on the rolling bodies and the engagement sections. This roller type speed reducer is provided with: an eccentric rotating body having on the outer periphery thereof a circular arc-shaped cam section which is eccentric in a radial direction from a rotation center; a bearing disposed on the outer periphery of the eccentric rotating body and rotatably supporting the eccentric rotating body; an annular member disposed on the outer periphery of the bearing and having wave-like internal teeth on the inner peripheral surface; a plurality of rolling bodies arranged at substantially equal intervals in a circumferential direction on the outer periphery of the bearing and on the inner periphery of the annular member, and configured so that the portions of the rolling bodies, which engage with the internal teeth, move in the circumferential direction as the eccentric rotating body eccentrically rotates; and a retainer for separating the plurality of rolling bodies from each other and permitting the rolling bodies to move in the radial direction. If the distance of eccentricity of the cam section from the rotation center is designated as an eccentricity amount a, the eccentricity amount a is set in the range of 0.5 to 1.2 mm.
