Abstract:

This rolling mill having at least four stages is provided with: measuring devices each of which measures, with respect to any one reference roll, a rolling direction force acting at least on a work-side roll chock and a drive-side roll chock of each of rolls other than a reinforcing roll; pressing devices each of which is provided either on the rolling direction entering side or leaving side of the roll chock and presses the roll chock in the rolling direction; driving devices each of which is provided facing the pressing device on the roll chock and moves the roll chock in the rolling direction; and a position control device which fixes the rolling direction position of the roll chock of the reference roll as a reference position, and drives the driving device to control the positions of the roll chocks in the rolling direction on the basis of the difference between the work-side rolling direction force and the drive-side rolling direction force so that the difference between the rolling direction forces of the respective rolls is a value falling within an allowable range.
