[20]

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention

[21] Hereinafter, one embodiment of a ceiling panel having combination of soundproofing and sound-absorbing functions in accordance with the present invention will be described in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[22] Referring to FIGS. 1 to 3, a ceiling panel 100 of the present invention includes an upper layer 110, a lower layer 120 and a finishing part 13Q Although the upper layer 110, the lower layer 120 and the finishing part 130 are of a segment- type and may have any one of square, rectangular, Y- and X-direction strip shapes, the embodiment of the present invention will be illustrated with reference to a rectangular- shape thereof.

[23] The upper layer 110 is formed of a synthetic resin plate and the lower layer 120 is formed of a paper material having the lowest vibration amplitude and preventing vibration due to intrinsic properties thereof. Accordingly, the ceiling panel 100 has a multilayer structure of different materials, which enables reduction of resonance.

[24] For continuous arrangement of the ceiling panel 100, supporting members 140 having a cross-sectional shape of " 1 ^ " or "I" at the edge facing toward the ceiling and a cross-sectional shape of "I" at the middle are arranged at regular intervals corresponding to a width or length of the panel 100 and are attached to the ceiling of the building by means of wood or aluminum members which were previously anchored to the ceiling, and then the ceiling panel segments are inserted to be supported between the supporting members 14Q

[25] The upper layer 110 is a synthetic resin plate with formation of a plurality of slit spaces defined by the provision of barrier ribs at regular intervals between the upper and lower panels. The upper layer 110 is made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) cardboard or the like. Opposite ends of the upper layer 110 are bent downward.

[26] The downward bending of both ends of the upper layer 110 is intended to prevent displacement of the lower layer 120 through the interposition of the lower layer 120 into the bending portion. Further, the upper layer 110 may be in the form of a flat plate.

[27] Further, the upper layer 110 can provide soundproofing effects by inhibiting the passage of sound due to having a plurality of hole-shaped slit spaces formed in the horizontal direction.

[28] The lower layer 120 consists of at least one paper layer which is provided in intimate contact with a lower part of the upper layer 1 IQ The lower layer 120 may be formed of corrugated cardboard or the like. In one embodiment of the present invention, the lower layer 120 is composed of two layers, that is, upper and lower panel layers and the entire areas of two layers are provided with a plurality of perpendicular holes 122 in an alternate manner.

[29] The holes 122 are formed passing through the upper and lower panel layers but are not superimposed on one another. Such a configuration leads to damping of sound in a manner that the sound generated inside the building is retained inside the holes 122, thus resulting in sound absorption.

[30] The finishing part 130 is a metal plate having both ends bending upward and inward to enclose the upper and lower layers 110,120 For decorative purposes, a variety of decorative patterns may be printed or a decorative pattern-printed PVC film may be attached to a surface of the finishing part.

[31] The surface of the finishing part 130 may be fireproof ed to prevent the occurrence of fire.

[32] Therefore, as shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the ceiling panel 100 may be installed as follows. First, wood or aluminum members are anchored to one side of the ceiling where the panel 100 will be installed and the supporting member 140 is then fixed to a bottom surface of the wood member, using screws or like.

[33] Next, prior to fixation of another supporting member 140 adjacent to the aforesaid supporting member 140 to a bottom surface of the neighboring wood member, segment- type ceiling panels 100 are sequentially inserted and fixed into the corresponding region of the neighboring supporting member 14Q Alternatively, the neighboring supporting members 140 are each fixed to bottom surfaces of the neighboring wood members, and the ceiling panel segments 100 are then sequentially inserted with opening of the space between the neighboring supporting members 14Q

[34] The ceiling panel 100 attached to the building ceiling is composed of the upper and lower layers 110, 120 of different materials, such that the probable resonance can be reduced. Formation of a plurality of slit spaces on the upper layer 110 inhibits the passage of sound and simultaneously formation of a plurality of holes in an alternate manner on the upper and lower panel layers of the lower layer 120 made of paper materials can provide effects of sound absorption, sound damping and vibration reduction.

[35] For decorative purposes, a variety of decorative patterns may be printed or a decorative pattern-printed PVC film may be attached to the surface of the finishing part 130, so the ceiling panel 100 can advantageously provide decorative effects.

[36] Further, the finishing part 130 is a metal plate, which exhibits excellent effects on the prevention of fire. Meanwhile, fireproofing treatment of the surface of the finishing part 130 leads to further effective prevention of fire.

[37] Although the preferred embodiments of the present invention have been disclosed for illustrative purposes, those skilled in the art will appreciate that various modifications, additions and substitutions are possible, without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention as disclosed in the accompanying claims.
