Abstract:
Provided is a rotary damper (1) suitable as a brake pedal damper having a fail-safe function. The rotary damper (1), for a brake pedal of an automobile, generates a braking torque when a case (11) rotates in a forward rotation direction N relative to a rotor (12), wherein the case (11) is formed using a thermoplastic resin, and the case (11) is provided with a pair of arm portions (19a, 19b) which project radially outward and which sandwich a plate (5) that rotates in conjunction with the brake pedal (4) around a center of rotation O of the pedal. Further, among the pair of arm portions (19a, 19b), the arm portion (19a) positioned on a downstream side in the forward rotation direction N is provided with a curved portion (191) having a fixed width, and the plate (5) is supported by a supporting portion (192) positioned on a distal end side of the curved portion (191).
