Provided is a rotary machine comprising: a rotating shaft provided with an axial disc; axial magnetic bearings for supporting the rotating shaft; a motor for rotating the rotating shaft; turbine blades mounted on one end side of the rotating shaft; compressor blades mounted on the other end side of the rotating shaft; a cooling gas flow passage through which a cooling gas for cooling the motor flows; and a housing for containing at least the motor, the axial magnetic bearings, and the axial disc. The motor is provided with a rotor which is provided to the rotating shaft, and also with a stator which faces the rotor. The axial disc is provided with a pair of support receiving surfaces sandwiched between the axial magnetic bearings. The cooling gas flow passage is provided with a first flow passage which is located between the rotor and the stator, and also with a second flow passage which extends along at least one of the support receiving sections.
