Abstract:
A rotary shaft seal, comprising an outer case (1) having an inner flange part (2) on the sealed fluid chamber side C and a rubber seal part (5) having a wall part orthogonal (5b) to the axis there of and positioned along a plane P0 orthogonal to the axis including the inner flange part (2). A recessed groove (24) increasing the elastic deformation of a rubber lip part (19) to a low pressure side is formed on the rear face side of the rubber lip part (19) near the base end, a support part (13) inserted into the recessed groove (24) and supporting the rubber lip part (19) from the rear face thereof near the base end is formed on a support metal fitting (8), and a deformation allowable space H allowing the minimum inner diameter part D0 of a slidable contact part (23) in a free state to move to the low pressure side so as to be raised from a rotary shaft (20) when receiving a pressure is formed between the support metal fitting (8) and the rear face of the rubber lip part (19).
